Dear Antonios,
I know what you mean, but how can it done legally in Greece ? What is the correct way ? Since all the years I did not learn how to do it in a legal way.
In Turkey you pay a specific amount/tax per bed you rent. But Turkey is an expemption, bcs they are not in the EC. In all other EC countries you can do subchartering without problem as you have a professional charterlicence.
It works likes this in caribbean, german baltic sea, australia, all over the world, but Greece does not provide a legal way as we have to understand. As long there is no problem it does not matter, but if... the argumentation against authorities must be : Tell me how to do it legally !
Do you have an answer on it ? Maybe Greece introduced meanwhile in conformity with the other EC countries its laws and there is something new, but noboday knows. Did you ever asked this question in the ministery or whoever is in charge of it.

Dear ΧΧΧΧ,
I will try to explain to you in English, believe me it is not very easy for me. Yes, Greece is a strange place. Everything seems very complicated, especially for foreigners But there is a reason for everything. For example, if in Germany it would be out of the law to do business for me, it would be impossible to do it! But when in Greece was not legal for a foreigner to do business, you were doing it, without a problem...
(not only you, but many foreigners did it, sunsail first of all)
All over the world, when you do a business, you pay taxes in the end of the year. In Turkey, you prepay the taxes. In Greece, all this years, you are tax free. Isn't this strange? It is, but we are (as I told you) a very strange country.
In Germany for example, if I drive out of the rules, or I park my car where ever I want, I will be punished, especially because I am foreigner there and I didn't respect their country, but in Greece, all foreigners who respect the rules in their countries, they do what ever they want, unpunished.
But I have also a lot of questions, for Germany for example: Your prime minister is refusing to give us loans for example, but they don't mind to sell to a country that is ready to bank rope new submarines, more guns, more cars, more products. This is inexplicable to me.
Of course somebody can sub charter a boat in Greece. There is a legal way. If I want to sub charter your boat for example, I can do it for one season, or more. But, nobody does, because we are out of taxation only when we charter our own boats, that's the problem. The sub charterer have to go to the tax authorities, to get VAT number, to make books, to get an accountant, and in the end of the year to pay the taxes for the profit he makes. Then, there is no any problem with the tax authorities or with the charter license.
Best regards
Antonis Mangos
